La fascia nord, in pratica la proiezione del fronte dell’edificio sul viale
Timavo, è una sorta di “orto botanico”, caratterizzato da una grande

zione di filtro fra il complesso e il forte traffico della circonvallazione.
Ha sempre costituito un’area verde “di rappresentanza”, che accompa-
gnava all’ingresso producendo un effetto a sorpresa, nel passaggio da un
verde artificiosamente spontaneo all’impianto razionalista dell’edificio.
Una volta entrati nel sistema degli spazi pubblici di piano terreno,
totalmente vetrati verso l’interno, si ottiene la seconda sorpresa, con
le due corti verdi interne fortemente disegnate, quasi una proiezione
dell’architettura in termini vegetali.
Infine la fascia verde a sud del complesso, ultimo residuo della campa-
gna che sino agli anni della costruzione lambiva i margini della città.
Qui storicamente si svolgevano le attività sportive e di svago degli
ospiti del Seminario.
Sono poi presenti due fasce verdi laterali di margine, a est (più ridotta)
e a ovest (più ampia). Su quest’ultima soltanto si concentrano gli inter-
venti in tema di parcheggi pertinenziali, per la necessaria tutela delle
altre aree verdi di valore storico, architettonico e identitario.

ing viale Timavo – is a sort of ‘botanical garden’, characterised by a large
variety of essences whose colors change according to the season. This
garden works as a filter between the complex and the heavy traffic of
the nearby ring road. This space has always played the role of a green area
‘of representation’, that accompanied the entrance producing an element
of surprise in the passage between an artificially spontaneous green area
and the rationalistic structure of the building. Once entered in the sys-
tem of public spaces of the ground floor, completely glazed towards the
inside, you come across the second surprise, the two courtyards strongly
designed, as if they are an architectural projection of the vegetation.
In conclusion, the southern tier of the complex is the remaining part
of the countryside that skimmed the borders of the City. Historically,
that was the place where the sports and leisure activities of the resi-
dents of the Seminary were carried out.
There are also two green areas in the marginal sides, the smaller one
to the east and the larger one to the west. Only in the latter is devoted
to parking space, in order to maintain the historical, architectural and
identity values of the other green areas.
